Brian Ames

"I've spent my career solving complex engineering problems and managing budgets. It's time we bring that same common-sense approach to Augusta."

Brian Ames isn't a career politician. He's a retired consulting engineer, a long-time Bangor homeowner, and a proud Eagle Scout grandfather who believes in the value of hard work and community service.

Having built a successful career in engineering and earned both his BS in Civil Engineering from the University of Maine at Orono and an MS in Business from Husson, Brian understands what it takes to balance a budget, meet payroll, and navigate regulations.

When he's not advocating for sensible policies, Brian can be found enjoying Maine's outdoors — whether he's skiing, boating, playing a round of golf, or working in his woodshop.

    Maine families are being squeezed by inflation, high taxes, and rising energy costs. We must rein in wasteful spending in Augusta and provide real tax relief so hardworking people can afford to live and retire here.

  • Common-Sense Regulation

    Our state government creates too much red tape that stifles innovation. As a retired engineer, I know how to evaluate complex systems. We need practical rules that protect our state without crushing enterprise.

  • Support Local Business

    Small businesses are the backbone of Bangor. We need to create an economic environment that encourages entrepreneurship, rather than punishing job creators with endless fees and complex mandates.

  • Fiscal Responsibility

    It's simple: government shouldn't spend money it doesn't have. I will scrutinize the budget with the eye of a businessman, cutting waste and ensuring every tax dollar serves a clear, necessary purpose.

  • Public Safety

    A thriving community requires safe streets. We must support our local law enforcement and first responders, giving them the resources they need to tackle crime and the ongoing substance abuse crisis effectively.

    Schools should be focused on core academics that prepare our kids for successful careers and trades. We must empower parents and support teachers in delivering high-quality, practical education.
